Fake job racket busted
ITANAGAR, June 21: A fake job racket has been busted with arrest of three persons by a team of City Police here today.
Acting swiftly following a tip off, City Police constituted a special team under the command of SDPO Bomjen Kamduk and succeeded to arrest all the three accused within 48 hours.
The police team led by SDPO Kamduk comprised of SI P Barouha, SI K Tao, SI AK Pandey, Head Constable C Sunny, Constables DS Thakur, Boken Nonong, H Milli and AR Singh.
APCC reacts to Umbrey’s statement
ITANAGAR, June 21: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has reacted strongly to the statement made by PPA candidate from Roing Laeta Umbrey against Rajya Sabha MP Mukut Mithi.
The contribution of Mithi towards the development of Arunachal Pradesh is well proven fact which needs not be clarified. The Arunachalees have witnessed a new height of development during his tenure as Chief Minister and the state of Arunachal Pradesh has received highest special packages from the Central Govt like Trans Arunachal highways, four lanes etc, it said in defense of Mithi. As far as the accountability of MPLAD is concerned, the meager fund of Rs 30 crores for the entire state as MP of Rajya Sabha has been used judiciously to cover up every nook and corners of the state. “If he dares to prove the mismanagement than legal door is open for him to furnish white paper before the public,” the APCC further held.
NCC academy in the offing
ITANAGAR, June 21: The National Cadets Corps (NCC) is planning to open an (NCC) Academy in Arunachal Pradesh and raise a new Battalion at Tawang, said Brig N K Dabas, Group Commander, Tezpur.
Attending a high level joint meeting of education department at Banquet Hall here yesterday, Brig. Dabas briefed the chief minister, education minister and other officers of education department about various activities being carried out by NCC in the state and future plans and programmes. Brig. Dabas informed that NCC has plan to upgrade the 22 (I) Coy NCC at Pasighat to a Battalion and raise separate group Headquarters for Arunachal Pradesh to bring more youths of the state under the fold of NCC. He also said that all the battalions will be upgraded to seven Companies and 24 Troops with about 3400 cadets per Battalion.

ITANAGAR, June 21: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators and party’s state office bearers in a joint meeting here today unanimously resolved to keep vigil on state Government’s functioning, especially the implementation of various Centrally sponsored schemes and Central flagship programmes and other important public utility schemes. The meeting presided over the BJP state president Tai Tagak further decided to constitute a state level working group in this regard. The group which will perform as the “shadow Cabinet’, also coordinate and liaison with the Central Ministries for various developmental projects in the state. All MLAs and party leaders including state office bearers attended the meeting.
The meeting also reviewed the Party Organization and Rajya Sabha poll held recently in the state. 5th IRBN BHQ Pasighat plants tree saplings
PASIGHAT, June 21: A mass tree plantation programme was organized at 5th IRBN BHQ Pasighat today in which various tree saplings like rain trees and others were planted while marking the eve of Vanmahotsav season.
The programme was organized with a plan to make the battalion premises a good place to live in. The 5th IRBN BHQ is spread in an area of 80,000 sqm at Gumin Nagar, Pasighat.
More than 60 saplings were planted which was provided by Divisional Forest Officer Pasighat free of cost, informed SDPO Tab Techi who led the plantation programme. Mass rubber sapling plantation

DAPORIJO, June 21: Rubber saplings were planted along BRTF roadside at Kuporijo during a mass tree plantation cum social service organized by Tani Bango People of Gusar Circle of Dumporijo.
The villagers have expressed their keen interest to grow rubber trees on commercial basis after they were explained about the benefits and importance of the cash crop.
All the HGBs of Tani Bango area, including HGB of Upper Subansiri, GB association president of Gusar circle, elders and youths actively participated in the programme.
They also cleared roadside weeds and disposed off the garbage.
Students suffering from lack of teachers
ITANGAR, June 21: The most of the schools in Upper Subansiri district, especially Siyum circle, are being run by single teacher; it was revealed during a survey conducted by Orphan Trust Society (OTS) under “Shiksha Ka Haq Abhiyan”.
Claiming that insufficient teaching staff in schools of rural area has been the main reason for migration of students to schools in urban area, the society appealed to the higher authority of the education department to post required number of teachers in those schools to prevent migration of students.
Action against DLRSO demanded
ITANAGAR, June 21: Leveling corruption allegation against DLRSO, Aalo, West Siang, a group of public leader of Aalo has demanded the chief secretary to initiate necessary action against the officer and transfer him from the district at the earliest.
Describing the officer’s alleged corrupt practices and various tactics adopted to take bribe from land applicants, the group of public leader in a complaint letter to the Chief Secretary alleged that the DLRSO does not cooperate with those land applicants who do not satisfy him. They claimed in the complaint letter that the DLRSO had recommended more than 500 land allotment cases within Aalo Township against huge amount from each applicant during the tenure of a former deputy commissioner of the district.
According to the complaint letter, former deputy commissioner Amjad Tak had reportedly recommended for initiating action against the corrupt officer but no action has been taken yet against him.
Opium awareness prog
ITANAGAR, June 21: An opium awareness programme was organized by Geku Women Welfare Civil Society (GWWCS) in collaboration with Regional Institute of Rural Development (RIRD), a Geku base NGO at Komar Rasing village today.
The ill effects and consequences of opium and substance abuse for individual as well as society were highlighted in details during the awareness campaign.
While participate in the programme, the officers advised the villagers to take up cardamom, ginger, orange etc cultivation as source of income. The programme was participated by PRI members, GBs and local people. The CO, CDPO and KVK officers of Geku also attended the programme.
Workshop on city sanitation action plan held
ZIRO, June 21: The 3rd workshop of City Sanitation Action Plan of Ziro was organized yesterday in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner under the chairmanship of ADC Ziro R Borthakur.
A Delhi based consultant, Intercontinental Consultants Technocrats Pvt Ltd presented a detailed report on the City Sanitation Plan (CSP).
The Deputy Director (UD & H), Ziro conducted the proceedings of the workshop and briefed all participants about the CSP.
Ziro ADC felt the immediate need for attending to sanitation issues of Ziro Valley and exhorted for maximum cooperation from the public.
The ICT representatives Dr Krishna Pal, Deepa Tripathi and Prabhakar Kumar, presented a PowerPoint on the various interventions required to solve the sanitation issues of the city, their broad cost estimates, various funding options for the identified projects and their implementation strategies. The CSP is being prepared for the horizon year 2038 and the current project DPR will be finalized by the end of July 2014 for onward submission to the Central Government for funding.

Vehicle checking drive held
ZIRO, June 21: A massive vehicle checking drive was conducted in all the three blocks of Lower Subansiri district today.
DTO Yajum L Yumlam along with her team conducted the drive at Yazali and Raga blocks in which she advised the vehicle owners to carry proper documents of vehicles. She also advocated for timely payment of road taxes to avoid fines.
Altogether 85 vehicles were challaned while few vehicles were seized and kept in the police station, Hapoli. A total amount of Rs 53,800 was collected as fines and spot registration fees.

AAPBSU extends support to AAPSU’s demands
ITANAGAR, June 21: The All Arunachal Pradesh Border Students’ Union (AAPBSU) has extended its support to AAPSU in its fight against state governments for failing to fulfill its seven point charter of demand.
Calling AAPSU’s demand as genuine, it accused the Chief Minister of ignoring to meet common people and choosing to stay in New Delhi with no work.

PPA decides not to accept Umbrey’s resignation
ITANAGAR, June 21:While deciding not to accept the letter of resignation of Laeta Umbrey in an emergency meeting here today, the People’s Part of Arunachal (PPA) urged Umbrey to reconsider his decision to quit the party.
Acknowledging his immense contribution for growth of the regional political party of the state, PPA president Nikh Kamin urged Umbrey to continue to work for the party.
“Umbrey’s experience and guidance is required for growth of the regional party,” Kamin said, and urged him to reconsider his decision.
While taking responsibility of the act of the party legislators as a president of the party, Kamin appealed to the party rank and file to work together for further strengthening party organization. Kamin said the act of the legislators was not intended to hurt any party leader, workers or his supporters.
Chairman, People’s Working Committee, Kamen Ringu strongly disapproved the voting of party legislators in favour of Congress candidate in the Rajya Sobha election and opined that the party (PPA) should have abstained from the voting. Party’s Secretary General Dr. Ashan Riddi opined that all the sentiment and anguish expressed by Umbrey are genuine and need to be addressed urgently.
Leader of People’s Legislature Party PD Sona stated that the act of the legislators was in tune with the present political situation in the state. It was not intended to contradict the party’s policy and ideologies, he claimed.

MIFF brings hope for aspiring Arunachalee film makers

With no operating movie theatre of its own since the lone functioning National Cinema Hall died down half a decade back, the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) sure gave film lovers of Capital Complex a reason to cheer.

“The collection is from the 12th and 13th edition of MIFF," shared Sumay Mukherjee, the branch manager of Films Division.
Sumay who calls two of the acclaimed Arunachalee films 'Sonam' and 'Crossing Bridges' super fine films is however dismayed with the way films are being made in Arunachal, with no one coming forward to produce it.
“People have to understand that a film is made on money, otherwise there won’t be any production,” he said.
He, however, sees lot of scope in the film makers of Arunachal.
And much to the respite of the film makers in Arunachal who often find no taker to produce their film, Film Division has offered to help them produce their film.
"All they have to do is apply online at www.filmsdivision.org", Mukherjee says.
Film maker Taro Chatung with a smile that seemed to say thank you, "Atlast, we know of someone who is willing to produce our films."
Chatung has many films to his credit, with Frontier Boys, Donyi and Rich and Rigid to name a few.
Another film maker Duyu Tabyo, who recently made a ‘Stranger in my land' -
"These film festivals are a boon to independent filmmakers who lack funds to showcase their creativity. And the markets for independent filmmakers are slowly growing and they are finding space and recognition through these festivals." And goes on to add, "Arunachal as a whole still lack technically; equipments, sound, designers, scriptwriters, editors etc. So we need a platform where we can get firsthand experience about the whole aspect of filmmaking."
Actor Hage D Appa who has acted in ‘Sonam' sees this as a bridge building between the Centre, government and the state.
"The gap between them and us is getting closer. They are here now and it is high time for us to go to that side too", he says.

Pasighat reserve with an area of 4648 hectare is one of the seven RFs under the forest division. Located at outskirts of Pasighat town, the forest is rich in various species of timber yielding trees, climbers and medicinal plants besides varied biodiversity. The mighty Siang river is flowing down amidst the RF providing a well defined ecosystem in the forest.
The Divisional Forest Officer (T) of Pasighat was not available for comment or to give official input.
LDSU demands posting of DDSE and other officers

Addressing media persons at Press Club here today, President, LDSU, Manlem Wangsu informed that Longding district was created on March 2012 but till now lack basic amenities in the field of education, health, road communication or any other development projects.
“For every work whether it is related to Education, Health or any other Departmental works, we have to depend on the previous parent district Tirap and it is quite impossible for everyone to visit, Tirap,” said Wangsu.
He said that it has also urged the Chief Minister, Nabam Tuki to induct at least one senior and capable MLA from the concerned district into his cabinet, who will address the grievances of the area and its people.
Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary, LDSU, Gangsong Gangsa informed that the district has only four Higher Secondary Schools in Longding, Kanubari, Pongchau and Wakka but out of four, only two are working properly, whereas the remaining two at Wakka and Pongchau are still running as Secondary schools due to the absence of Senior Teachers, Principal and Vice Principal.
Further informing that the district lacks quality education, due to the absence of senior teachers, he said that SSA appointed Junior Teachers are compelled to take the classes of Class XI and XII.
“After almost two years of the establishment of the Longding district, we have no proper infrastructure in any section; we are still struggling for better education, better road and Transportation, Health facilities and Communications,” added Gangsa.
